Started as Eco Hotels & Resorts (EHR) in Mexico City, 2019 by Maria Olazabal. Inspired by her passion to travel, and driven by the strong desire to make a difference in the world, Maria launched this curated platform of sustainable properties to build awareness and facilitate the booking process for travelers searching for the best eco-luxury destinations.

After three successful years and over 40 hotels across 20 countries, EHR embraced change. The term “Eco” no longer fully represented our commitment to sustainability, often overshadowed by greenwashing. So we decided to change our name to Ownia Collection, a name that’s unique and clean. Inspired by the remarkable Kiri Tree, which symbolizes sustainability and beauty, Ownia Collection continues our mission with the same values at heart. Our new name, derived from the botanical name of the Kiri Tree (Paulownia Tomentosa), reflects our dedication to providing unique and authentic travel experiences.
