Environment

Christopher Hotel´s goal is to have at least 40% of their cleaning products be environmentally friendly, and use 75% of eco-labeled paper. They are also committed to increasing the percentage of their food products that come from eco-responsible sources. They contribute continually to the development of the Biorock project, which strives to protect the coral reef in Lorient bay. They also want to preserve the biodiversity of local flora by planting species that are endemic to the Lesser Antilles and fight against invasive exotic species.

Community

Christopher Hotel is committed to improving safety, as well as physical and moral wellbeing in the workplace. They intend to inform all of their vendors about Hotel Christopher’s sustainable development policy, to maintain or augment the use of local providers and services, and to provide a constant level of support to the social initiatives on the island of Saint Barthélemy. They also make all their team aware of sustainable development through continuous training provided to all employees. 20% of their employees are from the Caribbean. An adapted and substantiated code of conduct with regard to respect for local populations is integrated into their operations and respected by all their employees.

Local Produce

Christopher Hotel´s Chef offers eco friendly cuisine with the launch of a weekly evening dedicated to local, organic and fair trade cuisine. In their restaurants, they offer certified organic and Fair trade “café St. Barth” roasted directly on the island. Their bars feature a selection of local spirits from the Lesser Antilles and the Caribbean Park.

Energy

Their entire property is working toward decreasing their use of energy by 2%. The air conditioning systems have been chosen for their energy efficiency and the bulbs in the common areas are low consumption.

Water

The entire property is working toward decreasing the use of water by 2%. They have their own production of water with a wastewater treatment plant, directly at the hotel. Hotel equipment, such as the sprinkler system or the water regulators on the taps, are designed to optimize water management.

Waste

They hope to decrease by 2% their production of trash and greenhouse gases related to their professional travel. Their goal is also to stock 100% of their chemical products in a secure manner.
