With access limited to protect the island’s ecosystem, a minimum stay of one week is encouraged to fully embrace the tranquility, nature, and surrounding inner islands.

BY AIR - Helicopter transfers:
Helicopter transfers offer one of the quickest routes to Cousine Island. We use EC 120 (4-seater) Eurocopters, with a flight time of 17 minutes from Mahé and 5 minutes from Praslin. For a quote and other transfer options, please reach out to our travel designers. Note that the combined weight limit for passengers and luggage is 325kg, with additional fees for excess weight.

BY AIR & SEA: Archipelago plane transfers
Experience the Seychelles from the sky with a 20-minute flight from Mahé to Praslin, followed by a 20–25 minute catamaran or yacht ride to Cousine Island. Guests also receive a complimentary return transfer by catamaran from Praslin Airport. Please note, guests must book their own flights with Air Seychelles. Environment

Cousine Island is one of the most ambitious and successful ecological restoration projects in the Seychelles. Since 1992, the owners have led efforts to return the island to its natural state, removing invasive species, planting over 8,000 native trees, and reintroducing endangered species such as the Seychelles Magpie-Robin and Seychelles Warbler. Today, the island is free from alien mammals and provides a safe haven for thousands of nesting seabirds, 78 Aldabra giant tortoises, and other native wildlife.

Community

Cousine Island collaborates with global researchers and conservationists to drive innovation in ecological preservation. Its on-island Eco Lab functions as a scientific hub, where conservation data is collected, studied, and shared with international partners. These efforts extend beyond the island through partnerships, outreach, and knowledge exchange with conservation networks in the Seychelles and beyond.

Local Produce

While the island is small and remote, efforts are made to source fresh and seasonal ingredients responsibly, with a preference for local produce from the Seychelles when available. The culinary experience celebrates the island’s tropical surroundings while maintaining a low environmental footprint.

Cousine Island takes a sustainable approach to energy by minimizing usage and relying on energy-efficient systems that support the needs of just 12 guests at a time. With limited infrastructure and mindful operations, energy consumption is kept to a minimum in line with the island’s conservation ethos.

Water usage is carefully managed on Cousine Island through conservation-minded infrastructure and best practices. With limited freshwater sources, water is treated as a precious resource, and sustainable systems are in place to ensure minimal environmental impact.

Waste

Waste is minimized through a zero-impact philosophy. Non-native species have been removed from the island, and all activities are designed to avoid pollution and degradation. Guests and staff are encouraged to participate in reducing waste through responsible consumption, recycling, and eco-conscious choices that protect the land and surrounding marine life.
