Breaking news!!! – the platform that pioneered sustainable travel “Eco Hotels & Resorts” (EHR) is changing its name to Ownia Collection.
After three years of success and more than 40 hotels in 20 different countries, we decided that it’s time for a change. When Eco Hotels & Resorts started out, the company’s name carried a lot of weight as it represented an “Eco” lifestyle. Throughout the years, the importance of the word “Eco” has faded, as it is often used to represent something that is not really related to sustainability, and more so related to greenwashing.
That being said, we decided to change Eco Hotel’s & Resorts’ name to a unique name, that differentiates the company, that is totally clean, and that is not associated with Greenwashing.
The Kiri Tree (Paulownia Tomentosa, by its botanical name), has been our inspiration since the beginning of EHR. Due to its many attributes, it absorbs ten times more carbon dioxide than most trees. At the same time, it produces ten times more oxygen through photosynthesis.
That is why the Kiri Tree was the essence of Eco Hotels & Resorts’ logo representing sustainability and beauty.
With the same values at heart, Eco Hotels & Resorts becomes Ownia Collection. Keeping the company’s essence and still inspired by the Kiri Tree, taking a part of its botanical name and making it our own: OWNIA Collection. With this new name, the sustainable travel platform will remain as unique as the experiences we offer.
One step at a time Ownia Collection wants to make sustainable travel the only kind of travel, and just like the Paulownia Tree, the collection represents beauty, luxury, and sustainability.
