about the resort
Perched on the edge of a river valley, situated just outside Samburu National Reserve Park. The architecture of Sasaab blends with the Swahili and Moroccan designs. It is a place of abundant natural diversity, where you can encounter majestic wildlife.
Rooms

Sasaab has nine luxury safari tents perched high above the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, each offering a serene escape in the heart of the Samburu wilderness. Each room was designed to maximise the spectacular views of the surrounding landscape as well as offer a cooling retreat from the African heat. As such, the spaces are enormous and the entire front of each tent can open up to let in a breeze. Every room has a delightful private veranda with a plunge pool and sun loungers, perfect for gazing out at the majestic views and passing wildlife below.

Game-drives
There are two areas to explore: Westgate Conservancy & Samburu National Reserve. Tour through the endangered Grevy’s zebra, Naibelibeli Plains, where you can see bat-eared foxes, hyenas, and wild dogs. Drive back to the lodge after sundown, where you’ll be able to see nocturnal species such as genet cats,white-tailed mongoose, porcupines, and bushed babies among others.

for the children
Sasaab is a paradise for children who love nature and exploring the outdoors. Children love the trails specially designed for them, they will be accompanied by the Samburu Warriors. They can also learn how to make a traditional Samburu bow and arrow, as well as a toothbrush from the Samburu toothbrush tree.

  • Samburu Dance
    Watch and even participate in a traditional dance with the local Samburu Community. It is a spectacular display of the Samburu Warriors and girls clapping, singing, and jumping. At the end of the dance, as per tradition, the Warriors slaughter a goat.
  • Market Day
    Usually happens on Wednesdays and Thursdays, You will be able to find all types of things, from bleating livestock to household goods, and beaded jewelry, local Samburu people meet here to trade, sell and buy all sorts of goods.
  • Manyatta Visit
    A Manyatta is a Samburu or Massai settlement, formed by a group of huts with fenced compounds. If interested a visit to a neighboring village can be arranged.
  • Community Project Visit
    You are welcome to visit one of the programs in which Sasaab is involved, this includes health and education projects in the local Samburu Communities.
